-- This Oct. 2009 I'm going to add mowed leaves to vegetable garden & flower beds. Too, I'll add some to compost pile & mulch shrubs & trees with leaves. The first day of Oct. 2009 I hung two loads of laundry on clothesline. Later this a.m. I'll walk to bank, library, & grocery store/s. I'd like to plant garlic this mo. to harvest next summer. Summers I brew tea in the sun. Recently I cleaned an apt. with earth-friendly supplies -- white vinegar, lemons, & baking soda. I used hydrogen peroxide & cream of tartar to remove a rust stain on linoleum. Walking I collect redeemables & recyclables. In Vt. recycling is mandatory & free when dropped off with household trash. -- |

ABOUT NRDC The Natural Resources Defense Council is a national, nonprofit organization of scientists, lawyers and environmental specialists and 1.2 million members and online activists dedicated to protecting public health and the environment. Founded in 1970, NRDC has tackled the most serious environmental threats of the past four decades -- acid rain, dying rivers, overlogged forests, ozone depletion -- and emerged with innovative, enforceable solutions that continue to protect both nature and human society. In the process, we have grown from small law firm to leading champion of the environment, wielding a potent combination of courtroom prowess, scientific expertise, policy influence, media outreach, and grassroots energy. Today, the world's natural resources are under pressure as never before, creating economic and environmental challenges that are dauntingly complex and global in scale. It will take visionary and resolute action to solve problems such as global warming, the global economy's reliance on shrinking oil reserves, or the depletion of ocean fisheries. No group is better equipped -- with both policy expertise and grassroots power -- to advance comprehensive solutions to such challenges. We are augmenting NRDC?s traditional strengths -- in the courts and hallways of federal government -- with new partnerships that unite corporate leaders, local governments, and leading scientists in our common cause. We are championing private sector initiatives and emerging technologies that can yield smarter, cleaner ways to power our growing economy. And we're building grassroots power. We need YOU -- your voice, your talents, your time, your money, whatever it is you have to give. We need your help in spreading the message: It can be done. We can solve global warming, revive the world's oceans, move America beyond oil, and so on. So join the team, here at gather.com, and visit www.nrdc.org to learn more. Stay tuned for more info on how you can help NRDC propel environmental change. Group Tags
